Operator ID and Flyer ID

Work out which CAA identifiers you need from the aircraft's weight, camera and UK class mark.

100 g to under 250 g

A Flyer ID is required. An Operator ID is also required when the aircraft has a camera; without a camera the Operator ID is optional.

250 g to under 25 kg

Both a Flyer ID and an Operator ID are required. UK1, UK2, UK3 and UK4 class aircraft also require both identifiers.

Who can register

The operator must be at least 18. A Flyer ID can be obtained by a child, but under-13s must register and take the test with a parent or guardian.

Identification

Label every aircraft that requires an Operator ID with that identifier. Do not put the Flyer ID on the aircraft.
