Children and drones in the UK

A child may fly, but registration, testing and adult responsibility depend on age and aircraft.

Flyer ID

Children who need a Flyer ID must pass the same official theory test. Under-13s complete registration with a parent or guardian.

Operator responsibility

Only a person aged 18 or over can hold the Operator ID. The operator is responsible for the aircraft and its labelling.

Supervision

Choose a safe open location, agree a flight boundary and keep direct adult supervision appropriate to the child's experience.
